China-Arab States Expo: Yinchuan event provides platform for 'win-win, inclusive cooperation'

The sixth China-Arab States Expo is underway Friday in the north-western Chinese city of Yinchuan. Participants from China and countries around the world are seeking new business opportunities and closer cooperation in diverse sectors. Sun Tianyuan has the details.

This year's China-Arab States Expo is in full swing.

SUN TIANYUAN, Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region "Look at all these people. This year, more than fifty countries, including Saudi Arabia, are attending the expo. Over one-thousand enterprises, both from home and abroad, are here to showcase their products and services."

This Saudi food company is here for the first time. They've brought their signature desserts from home, with the goal of tapping into the huge Chinese market.

ABDULLAH A ALREBDI, Chairman, Palmadates "Yes, we are looking for all Chinese (market). We are doing this now for two days. People are tasting and they are liking. What I see from people and their opinion, there's a good opportunity and potential for us to open this new market."

Chinese companies are also eyeing new opportunities for cooperation, and expanding business overseas. This man travelled all the way from Southwest China's Sichuan Province, about two hours by plane.

ZHOU XIAOWEI, General Manager, Sichuan Jingtong Supplies "It's a good platform for the exporters, also importers to come together to have business communication to promote the economy."

Official data shows trade between China and Arab states exceeded 430-billion US dollars last year, almost doubling since the Belt and Road Initiative was launched in 2013. Like the BRI, organizers of the expo say the goal is to provide an inclusive, win-win platform for all participating countries.

KASHIF FAISAL, Owner, Pakistan Handmade Woolen Carpets "We have a huge business opportunity in Yinchuan. That's why we came here. We came before 2017, 2019. The business is very good. The exhibition is very good."

Apart from trade, the expo is also showcasing new opportunities in areas such as green energy and the digital economy. Sun Tianyuan, CGTN, Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
